With the good sometimes comes the bad. Unfortunately our inner right plant seems to be in pretty poor shape. I will remove the dead leaves with a pair scissors according to the directions in the AeroGarden Strawberry Patch manual.

Check out this bird’s eye view photo of the AeroGarden’s growing surface after being removed from the bowl during the rinsing procedure. You can easily see how much better the left side is doing compared to the light-deprived right:

It’s FEEDING TIME! With some other AeroGarden kits like the Gourmet Herb Kit, you simply have to add new tablets and fill up the water. With the AeroGarden Strawberries Kit, you must rinse out the bowl before continuing. This takes some steps and we have documented them for you below in an easy to follow step-by-step guide with photos:

First, take a firm hold of the bowl and lift it off of the AeroGarden’s base. Then place it on your counter top near the sink.

Second, lift the lid on the growing surface, then gently slide your hands through the opening under the growing. Don’t worry if you tear a few of the roots, but remain cautious. Ensure that your hands are far enough into the AeroGarden that you can lift it off.

Third, slowly lift the growing surface out of the bowl and place it on the counter. It will drip some water, so be sure to have a clear workspace.

Fourth, dump the contents of the bowl into your sink and rinse with water. Then fill it back up to the “Fill To Here” marker with room temperature water.

Fifth, take grow surface off of your counter and place it back on the recently cleaned bowl. Take care with the root structures and arrange them over the cross beams within the bowl. Once the growing surface is connected again, grasp the bowl firmly and place it onto the base of the AeroGarden.

Sixth, throw in a pair of nutrient tablets:

Finally, press the reset button and you will be good to go for another two weeks.

Presto Chango. The water is fresh, we have plenty of nutrients, and it is time to press on and grow some delicious aeroponic strawberries in our AeroGarden.

I came home today to find the Water Level Low light was blinking on the AeroGarden. It is amazing that even though these plants do not appear to be making large amounts of progress above the growing tray surface, they have managed to suck up a large portion of the water in the bowl. The rate of consumption is much higher compared to my first AeroGarden Gourmet Herbs Kit. I opened up the door and added another pitcher of water to the AeroGarden’s bowl. While it was open I snapped some photos of the strawberry plant roots. They have made some excellent progress over the last few days. Check out those root structures!
